Initially, he started acting just to have fun.

A pacifist, James Mason registered as a conscientious objector during World War II.

On February 8, 1960, he was honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6821 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.

One of his friends was fellow actor Charlie Chaplin.

James Mason’s autobiography titled Before I Forget was published in 1981.

He described Bette Davis as the greatest female actor of all time.

Mason loved animals, especially cats. Alongside his first wife Pamela Mason, he co-authored the book The Cats in Our Lives which was published in 1949.
